Day 20

I met Sandra and her husband Robert (who comes along to help with communication) today at the bank in order to pay for Mike and my travels. Her bank could only do a cash advance (because I don't have enough time to withdraw all the cash needed) on a visa credit card, 4 other banks couldn't do it at all, then one said yes, but their machine was broken so we went to the same bank at a different location and they could do it. It was rediculous how hard it was to pay with credit card and that they couldn't do it with my debit card even though it is master card linked. Now I'm anxiously waiting for it to post on my USAA account so I can pay it off.
Here is a funny story: yesterday I was at the travel agents (Sandra) office and she had called to see if I could pay for my plane tickets with a credit card, which was not a problem. Then we decided to meet at the bank the next morning to do a cash advance for the rest of the trip. I told her I had the bolivianos to pay for the planes and I thought she said that tomorrow when we work things out and I get the money to pay for the rest of the trip I could use the bolivianos for part of it since the planes were per credit card and it would be dangerous for me to keep that amount of money on me when I traveled. In actuality what she said was that since I had the money for the plane tickets and it is dangerous to walk around with that amount of money so I could pay for the plane tickets with bolivianos right then and then take care of the rest of the trip tomorrow. Evidently I said si (yes) as in yes it is dangerous to have this much money and she thought I had understood that I was going to pay for the plane tickets with the bolivianos instead of the credit card and had said yes to that so her assistant got out the book to write up a reciept and I got up and said chow because I thought I would just pay her the next day. Evidently they laughed quite a bit when I left because they were ready to take the money and I just walked out the door. I had thought it odd that she thought it would be safer for me to hold onto the money another day then pay part of it then, but also thought that she had put through the plane tickets being paid with credit card because I had been sitting there when she called to see if she could do it and maybe she only wanted me to pay for the trip when I could pay for all of it. Today during lunch her assistant was still laughing about it.
Despite all the confusion, we are looking forward to a wonderful trip that should be fascinating. Starting in 138 hours when Mike gets here!
